New Ultra Opaque White Ink for Textile Screen Printing: Maximum Opacity with Water Base

New ultra opaque white ink for screen printing

® Rittagraf

A Super-Coverage White Water Based Ink for Plastisol Nostalgics

At Rittagraf, we’ve always been committed to offering textile inks that combine smoothness, creaminess, and excellent coverage, formulated for both professionals and educational workshops. In other words, a water-based opaque ink that is still easy to print. Following this philosophy, our standard White Covering Lacquer has always delivered good opacity and a silky touch.

Now, we take it a step further by introducing a much more opaque, denser, and more heavily pigmented professional-grade ink.

*Important: This ink is NOT what is commonly referred to as “water-based plastisol.” This is a true lacquer ink—heavier in pigment and density, with all the characteristics that come with it.

An Ink for Those Who Want Intense Results

Formulated with a high concentration of white pigment, this ink delivers far greater opacity than Rittagraf’s standard opaque white.
Its performance is reminiscent of traditional plastisol inks, but with the advantages of a water-based, solvent-free, phthalate-free, low-toxicity, and odorless formula.

However, because it dries by oxidation and has a high density, it requires skill and precision during printing. This is not an ink for slow processes or inexperienced printers.

Who Is It For?

This ink is designed for textile screen printing professionals who require:

  • Maximum definition on dark backgrounds
  • High-contrast designs
  • Strong durability without sacrificing finish quality

It is not recommended for beginners. Its high viscosity demands practice, quick working speeds, and the use of a retarder for longer print runs. In the hands of experienced printers, it delivers clean, even prints, often in just one pass.

  • Printing on open-weave or highly absorbent fabrics
  • Artwork where white is the main feature
  • Designs with extreme contrast, large solid areas, or heavy ink coverage

Technical Printing Tips

  • Use 110 tpi (43 threads/cm) mesh or lower for maximum coverage. Finer meshes can clog easily due to the ink’s high density.
  • Add a retarder for extended printing sessions. A small amount of distilled water can also improve flow, but both may reduce opacity.
  • Recommended heat cure: 160–180 °C for under 1 minute.
  • Clean with water.
