What is Lascaux Studio Bronze
Lascaux Studio Bronze is a range of metallic acrylic paints formulated with genuine non-oxidising metal alloys, ensuring stable brilliance and high resistance to darkening over time.
These colours provide a true metallic finish, with a much stronger light reflection than conventional pearlescent pigments.
Metallic Acrylic for Screen Printing
Like the rest of the Lascaux Studio system, Bronze can be converted into water-based metallic screen printing ink by mixing 1:1 with:
• Lascaux Screenprinting Paste → for paper, board and wood
• Lascaux Textile Medium → for cotton and natural fibres
Recommended ratio:
250 ml paint + 250 ml medium = 500 ml metallic ink ready to print.
This system allows you to produce gold, silver or bronze screen printing ink with artistic quality and a genuine metallic finish.
Behaviour on Screen
Thanks to the fineness of its metallic pigments, the mixture prints well through medium meshes. Extremely fine meshes may reduce pigment deposition and metallic reflection.
As guidance:
• 43 threads for textile printing
• 77–90 threads/cm for paper printing
The metallic effect is most visible when light hits the surface at an angle.
Recommended Applications
• Fine art screen printing
• Graphic editions with metallic highlights
• Decorative textile printing
• Artistic posters
• Frames and decorative elements
Some tones require UV protective varnish for outdoor use.
Advantages Over Other Metallic Acrylics
• Higher concentration of real metallic pigment
• True reflective finish (not pearlescent imitation)
• Water-based system
• Compatible with Lascaux modular system
• Allows custom metallic ink production
Expand the Lascaux Range
The Bronze series can be combined with standard Lascaux Studio colours or the Lascaux Neon range, all compatible within the same water-based screen printing system.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it truly metallic or just pearlescent?
It is formulated with real non-oxidising metal alloys, offering stronger and more authentic reflection than standard pearlescent paints.
Does it lose metallic shine when mixed with screenprinting paste?
No. When mixed in the recommended 1:1 ratio, the metallic effect remains. The final brilliance will also depend on ink deposit thickness.
Can it be used with fine meshes?
It can work with finer meshes, but medium meshes are recommended to allow sufficient ink deposit and maximise metallic reflection.
Is it suitable for textile printing?
Yes. When mixed with Lascaux Textile Medium, it is suitable for cotton and natural fibres, including darker textiles.
Are the pigments pearlescent?
No. The range contains genuine metallic alloys that provide a real metallic effect.
