What is Lascaux Neon
Lascaux Neon is a range of water-based fluorescent acrylic paints developed to produce colours of maximum visual intensity and true UV reactivity.
The range includes six tones:
-
Fluorescent green
-
Fluorescent magenta
-
Fluorescent orange
-
Fluorescent yellow
-
Fluorescent blue
-
Fluorescent white
These colours show extremely strong fluorescence in daylight and react intensely under UV or black light, creating a visible neon effect.
They are not glow-in-the-dark paints, but UV-reactive fluorescent pigments designed to respond to ultraviolet radiation.
Fluorescence and UV Reaction
The pigments absorb ultraviolet radiation and re-emit it as visible light, intensifying colour in UV-lit environments.
This makes Lascaux Neon ideal for:
-
Artistic posters
-
Textile printing for concerts and festivals
-
Stage and set design
-
Contemporary artwork with UV lighting
-
High-impact graphic design
In normal light the colours are already vibrant. Under black light their intensity increases significantly.
Fluorescent Acrylic for Professional Screen Printing
Like the rest of the Lascaux Studio system, Neon can be converted into water-based fluorescent screen printing ink by mixing 1:1 with:
• Lascaux Screenprinting Paste → for paper, board and wood
• Lascaux Textile Medium → for cotton and natural fibres
Recommended ratio:
85 ml paint + 85 ml medium = 170 ml fluorescent ink ready to print.
This modular system allows you to create custom neon inks while maintaining UV reactivity.
Printing Behaviour
For maximum fluorescent effect:
On dark textiles, a white underbase may be necessary.
Advantages Over Industrial Fluorescent Inks

FAQs
Are they truly fluorescent?
Yes. They show high brightness in daylight and strong UV reactivity under black light.
Do they glow in the dark?
No. They are UV-reactive, not phosphorescent.
Can they be used for screen printing?
Yes. Mixed 1:1 with Lascaux Screenprinting Paste or Textile Medium.
Do they work on dark fabrics?
Best results are achieved on light backgrounds. A white underbase may improve visibility on dark textiles.
